During surprise monitoring visits to some eight elementary schools in the two cities of Catbalogan in Samar and Tacloban in Leyte, K Channel learned that these schools which used to use K Channel shows regularly no longer have access to the latter’s broadcast.  These two cities which sit within typhoon ravaged areas have suffered during the strong typhoons Yolanda in 2013 and Ruby in 2014; which blew off the satellite dishes from the schools’ roofs.
Though a few of the dishes were retrieved, two of them were never found and are believed to lie somewhere at the bottom of the San Juanico Strait. School heads of Bunuanan Elementary School, San Andres Elementary School, Guinsorongan Elementary School and Bliss Elementary School in Catbalogan, as well as their counterparts in Leyte have made a desperate plea to generous donors to reconnect them to K Channel – for the children’s sakes.
